Drabble: Vigorian Rock by Ashely Mendez-Kestler

by specklit

I found a Vigorian Rock deep in the Cave of Secrets, and I took it. Now I have great power, but only for 24 hours. Then they will find me, capture me, jail me, or maybe stone me. But today, in this moment, I am powerful and free!

It was easier than I thought to find the rock. Easier still to defeat the “mighty dragon,” which was really a playful pup of a dragon. I walked in, sword drawn, and he licked my face to saturation. And that’s when I knew. I would rule the world… for 24 hours.

Author’s Note: I’m am fascinated with the idea of stones holding powers that we humans can only dream of!

Drabble: The Only Way by Nathan Rokus

The knight lay on the bed. He coughed blood. His gashes were deep and bruises littered his body.

“Doctor,” asked the knight. “Can you do anything to help me?”

“I fear the wounds are too deep for an ordinary cure. Luckily, I have a few tricks up my sleeves.” The doctor gave an ant to the knight. “Kill this ant. It’s the only way.”

The knight squished the insect between his fingers. All his wounds suddenly disappeared and he felt full of life.

“I feel great, Doctor!”

“Of course, you have just leveled up.”

Drabble: Among Us by Anita Roberts Soupir

As the train slowed, Anna glanced up from her book in time to see something absolutely terrifying. Two men on the platform seemed to be in an intense argument culminating with one reaching up and yanking something from the other man’s face while giving him a stiff shove. To her horror, she watched him lose balance and fall toward the tracks, arms flailing, trying to regain his balance. In that last second, he turned his face toward her window and Anna saw not flesh, but red eyes and a mechanical façade. She shuddered as realization hit; the machines had come.

Author’s Note: So many interesting things can happen on a train platform. The ideas are endless.
